There is a website sponsored by the Washington Education Association that goes into detail about our states public schools and how to get involved, including a letter campaign to our local representatives.  Log on to www.taketheleadwashington.org

Katrina Roberts, TMN member and professor at Whitman College, has won the 2007 Idaho Prize for Poetry for her recent writings.  “Friendly Fire” her collection of poetry will be published in 2008.  This will be Katrina’s third published book of poetry. Yeah Katrina!

Kudos to member Staci Wanichek who speared headed the Prospect Point Elementary Playground Project. The first phase was installed over the weekend and it looks great!

Jackson’s Garbage Club was a great success with 18 children volunteering their Saturday morning to clean up Main Street from 2nd Avenue to Spokane Street. An amazing accomplishment for kids under the age of 10.   Jackson and his family thank TMN members for their support. Good job Jackson!

Thank you to Amy Hisaw, Strength Training and Conditioning Coach and member of TMN for providing us for a very informative evening.  This was such a fabulous event that we will do it again this fall. Within an hour, Amy taught us simple techniques to strengthen our “core” muscles to prevent injuries. There were no weights involved and everything could be done in about 10 minutes a day.  Personally, I was sore for 2 days but I am working on those muscles now!  We will keep you posted on the next class.

Thank you to Detective Cristal Harris of the Walla Walla Sheriff’s Office for her discussion on “stranger danger” and sexual offenders in our community.
Check out www.yellowdyno.com for topics to discuss with your children. Visit http://www.co.walla-walla.wa.us/departments/SHE/index.shtml for the tier III sexual offenders in Walla Walla County.
