Save the Date – 2008 Children’s Forum is Sunday October 19th at St. Patrick’s Church.  This event has not happened for the past four years and is it a great opportunity and discuss the well being of children/families in WW, learn of resources available, child care, risk factors for our kids (pit falls)  and how to volunteer.  The event is free. There is a free dinner, child care, a guest peaker and material.  I will let you know when it starts soon and how to get more information.

I have heard stories from some of you about trying to enjoy downtown WW this summer and having some problems with some of the youth hanging out.  I have talked to the city and they reinforced to me the importance of calling police dispatch so they have a record of the situation whether it is the language or hanging out at Heritage Park so you can’t take your little kids there to the groping (I am not kidding) in front of businesses during peak shopping hours.  To get more police presence they need to have a record of complaints. The number is 527-1960 also if you have any concern or ideas on how to handle some of the situations you can email Duane Cole, City Manager at dcole@ci.walla-walla.wa.us

The Blue Mt Humane Society is in desperate need of supplies.  They currently have 92 kitties and 76 dogs.  The are looking for wet canned food for dogs and cats and dry kitten food. If the gate is closed just honk or drop off donations at the downtown Thrift Store at 207 E. Main Street.

Andra Ely and Helen Reich, YWCA Fun Factory Leaders for Summer 2008, need your help.  They are planning to make rain sticks during their musically-themed week and would like your emtpy paper towel rolls, TP rolls, and wrapping paper rolls.  Since recycling is one of the themes of Fun Factory, they felt this would be a great way to assemble materials and save money.  Please tell your friends!  Drop off your rolls at the YWCA on 1st & Birch – tell them it is for the Fun Factory.

“Professionalizing Motherhood” by Jill Savage – I highly recommend this book. I gave this book out to the first 30 members who joined.  It is a positive book about the job of motherhood and how to be proud, positive and take time to yourself.
Book & Game always has a copy in the family section.
